Thai Businesses Urged To Invest In Myanmar

The Thai Chamber of Commerce has urged local businesses in the southwestern border province of Ranong to expand their investment opportunities in Myanmar, Thai News Agency (TNA) reported.

Chamber of Commerce vice president Surin To-tap-tiang said during a seminar titled 'Directions of Ranong's Economy' here Monday that Ranong province could potentially become an important trade link between Thailand and Myanmar once the Asean Community (AC) is formed in 2015.

"Geographically, Ranong can be used as a gateway to connect to other southern Asian countries as well," he said.

Surin said Ranong province's main priority now is to seek for more trade expansion opportunities for local business entrepreneurs to enter the Myanmar market particularly in the south of the country.
