Japan-based industrial corporation to launch service center in Myanmar's Yangon
YANGON, July 22 (Xinhua) -- Japan-based Hitachi Zosen Industrial and EngineeringCorporation will officially open a service center in Myanmar's Yangon soon, local mediareported Monday.The Japanese corporation once provided its technology and equipment in operating SaleFertilizer Plant in Magway Region in 1970 and liquified petroleum gas plant in the region'sMinbu in 1986.Hitachi Zozen corporation is an internationally operating Japanese industrial enterprisespecializing in environmental protection, industrial plants, precision and industrialmachinery, marine disaster prevention, structural steel work and construction machinery.
Meanwhile, as part of promotion of investment in the transport sector, Nippon Express,Japan's biggest logistics services company, has opened its representative office in Yangonto offer services to land, air and marine transport logistics services as well as local services.Japan's second largest automobile company of Nissan Motor is also planning to build anautomobile assembly plant in Myanmar following the opening of its spare parts and servicecenter in 2011.According to official statistics, bilateral trade between Myanmar and Japan totaled 1.414billion dollars in 2012, of which Myanmar's import from Japan took 1.053 billion dollars,while its export to the East Asian nation stood 360.79 million dollars.Japan's investment in Myanmar amounted to 270.283 million U.S. dollars as of March2013 since Myanmar opened to such investment in late 1988 and standing the 11th inMyanmar's foreign investment line-up.
